VegfestUK organisers have been a host of almost forty vegan festivals in twenty years, and this year due to the Covid19 restrictions, they have taken their events online. On Saturday, December the 12th, VegfestUK broadcasted online their Vegan Awards Ceremony, which included over two hundred nominees. VegfestUK founder Tim Barford and co-host Karin Ridgers did an amazing job presenting the Awards for the first time in front of the camera instead of the crowded auditorium at London’s Olympia where the event usually takes place.
The Awards, which have been running since 2007, promote the favourite vegan brands and groups in the UK market as voted by the public.
This year, the event boasted twenty categories plus three special awards: the Solidarity Award, Achievement Award, and Global Initiative Award.
Awards highlights

Omari McQueen, 12-year-old cookbook author, CEO, and award-winning chef was awarded the Achievement Award for his overall accomplishments and his successful cooking show on the children’s channel CBBC. The show will soon be broadcasting on BBC2.

Toni Vernelli, Head of Communications and Marketing at Veganuary, who won the Best Campaign Group category, joined the live event and commented on the success of the movement: “We have been overwhelmed by the reaction of the people who want to try Veganuary this year. We have 5000 people signing up every day pledging to try vegan for a month.”

The organisers of the Vegfest Morocco digital event, which took place in July 2020, are the Global Initiative Award winners for putting up a fantastic online event that brought together people from more than 40 countries with a common goal to promote veganism.

The Vegan Traders Union is the winner of the Solidarity Award.
